Bunkpost

The story

Built by a camper who read
one receipt too many.

I'm Kevin. My family and I camp — a lot. Me, my wife, our two kids, and a camper that has seen more of the Northeast than most travel writers.

Somewhere along the way I started actually reading the receipts. Nearly every campground we stayed at added a booking fee, a service fee, or a “convenience” charge — not because the owner wanted to nickel-and-dime us, but because their reservation software did it for them, by design. The park did the work; the platform took the tip.

I also run a small business, so I went and priced the software side. What I found explained everything: the established platforms are built and priced for resorts. For a new or small campground, the math simply doesn't work — so those parks run on a phone, a notebook, and a good memory. No online booking at all. Guests who search at 9pm book somewhere else, and owners spend their summers as answering services.

That gap is Bunkpost: booking software a 20-site park can actually afford, that never charges your guests a fee, and that sends your money to your bank every day. Better for the camper on the receipt end, sustainable for the owner on the other — that's the whole idea.

We're a small operation (Bunkpost Booking Technologies, a division of Frog Byte, LLC) based in Maine, and I still answer the support email myself. If Bunkpost ever stops feeling like it was built by someone who camps, write to me.

House rules

Four rules we won't break to grow faster.

Flat price, whole park

One monthly price covers everything. No per-booking fees, no revenue share, no "platform fee" hiding on your guest's receipt.

Guests pay your price

The total at checkout is your nightly rate plus your taxes. Bunkpost adds nothing on top, ever. That's a founding rule, not a promotion.

Your money moves daily

Payments run on Stripe Connect and payouts are issued to your bank every day. We never hold your revenue.

Your data leaves with you

Export every reservation to CSV whenever you like. If Bunkpost stops earning its keep, you can walk away with everything.

Built in the field

Shaped by real parks, not focus groups.

Bunkpost is being built alongside our first pilot park — Sleeping Bear Campground in Lee, Maine — a real campground taking real reservations, telling us what works from the office and what only works in a demo. When something on this site says “takes an afternoon,” it's because we've watched an owner do it in one.

Early days mean two honest things: you get software whose roadmap you can actually influence, and the founder answering your email is the same person who wrote the code.

Be one of the parks that shapes it.

Set up your park, take a booking, and tell us what a resort platform would never understand about your operation.
